GASMEMS 2nd Summer School and Workshop- 5 to 10 July, 2010  - Les Embiez  -  09/30/2010

 The GASMEMS Network has organised its second events (Summer School and Workshop) in the Embiez Island, Provence, France, in July 2010.


The organisation of the events was under the responsibility of the Université de Provence (contact: I. Graour) and Arjan Frijns (TUE), the Events Coordinator of the Network.

 

The events week were organised as follows:

- 5-7 July: Summer School
- 8 July (Thursday): excursion to the Calanques
- 9-10 July: Workshop

    Daily QiGong courses:

    A Soft skill course of QiGong will be given by Juergen Brandner : QiGong Programme (updated 23/06/2010).

    Participants to the Summer School and Workshop will be welcome for relaxation time!

     

    Excursion to the Calanques- July 8:

    A one-day visit to the Calanques by boat will be organised on July 8 (Thursday), with a departure from the Embiez Island. More information will be published soon.

     

    2nd General Assembly of the GASMEMS Network

     

    The 2nd General Assembly of the Network will be held following the three-day Summer School, on July 7, between 17:00 and 18:00 pm. All participants of the network are invited to take part to the meeting.

     

    Some of the issues that should be developped:

    • presentation of the last recruitments (ESR/ER)
    • coming actions of the network: Mid-Term Review meeting with the EC Representative, 1st periodic report (general information)
    • discussion on the general management of the Network- questions/answers

     


    Topics

     

    As for the 1st Edition of the GASMEMS Summer School and Workshop, the programs of these second events will cover the following topics:

    • Dynamics of gas micro flows
    • Heat and mass transfer in gas micro flows
    • Gas – materials interactions

    In each of these fields, new developments will be presented, concerning:

    • Modelling and simulation tools
    • Materials and manufacturing techniques
    • Experimental techniques and measurements

      • Toulon-Hyères Airport (connections with Paris, London, Brussels), 40 km from Les Embiez
      • Marseille-Marignane Airport (connections with most European big cities), 85 km  from Les Embiez

       leaves from Le Brusc (10 min) or Sanary (15 min - train station)

    Registration

     

    Registration has to be made via the Events website, in the Registration section (downloadable registration form).

     

    Conference and accommodation fees

     

    • 3-day Summer School Fee:       € 650 (incl. 3 nights)
    • 2-day Workshop fee:               € 450 (incl. 2 nights)
    • Combined ticket (SS & WS):     € 1100 (incl. 6 nights)
       

    Fees include the participation costs to the events + accommodation in double rooms+ meals+ boat ticket.
    For the different formulas, the participants must arrive and leave on the following
    dates:

    An extra night will be charged € 100 and a single room € 30 per night. 

     

    Grant Application

    For the workshop and the summer school a limited number of grants for young researchers will be available. Candidates have to send their application indicating which event(s) they intend to attend together with their curriculum vitae before April 3, 2010 to the organizers (a.j.h.frijns@tue.nl).

     

    Reminder: ESR/ER recruited within the network shall not apply for grant. Registration fees for the recruited fellows will have to be charged under column D of the budget of each beneficiary.

     


    Call for papers

     

    Contributed papers


    Contributed papers for the workshop will be accepted as oral or poster presentations. Participants who whish to present a paper are requested to submit a draft paper manuscript in PDF format (8 pages A4 maximum), for peer review. Authors are requested to adhere to the following instructions, which are designed to ensure a uniformity of style among all the event papers (template for paper submission).

    The revised papers will be published on CD-ROM.

    1st Gasmems Summer School and Workshop  - Eindhoven -  06/01/2010, 00:00

    The 1st GASMEMS workshop was held on Sept. 7 & 8, 2009 in Eindhoven. It was coupled with the 1st Summer School, hold on 9-11 Sept. 2009, the 1st meeting of the Supervisory Board (Sept. 14) and the 2nd meeting of the Executive Board (Sept.12).

    A general assembly (GA) opened to all participants of the network was organised to deal with scientific and non-scientific issues (global network organisation and management of the project).

    Registration to the Workshop and Summer School will have to be made before July 25, 2009, via the registration page.

     

    Conference Fee

     

    Normal fees (deadline: July 25)*:


     

    • 2-day Workshop fee (WSF): € 300,-
    • 3-day Summer School Fee (SSF): € 400,-
    • Combined ticket (WS_SSF): € 500,-

     

    *After that date the fee will be € 60 higher.

     

    • Cancellation policy 

    Cancellation of registration is possible up to 3 weeks before the event starts (August 17), with € 50 administration costs. After August 10 no refunds are possible.
